CARIBOU – Yvonnette (Theriault) St. Peter, 80, a well-known retired Caribou schoolteacher, passed away peacefully April 18, 2015 at the Caribou Nursing Home with her loving family by her side. She was born May 27, 1934 in Limestone, the daughter of the late Elisee and Doria Theriault. She was a 1952 graduate of Limestone High School. After graduation, she briefly worked as a telephone operator and lived in Presque Isle. She married Paul St. Peter, February 27, 1954 and the couple lived in Caribou from then on. She and Paul were married for over 56 years, had four children, and she was a loving and devoted wife and mother. Yvonnette taught first grade at Teague Park School in Caribou for over 20 years and then substitute taught for 5 years after her retirement, and was well-loved by all the children she taught, including some of her grandchildren. For many years, she and her family enjoyed their camp at Cross Lake. She was also a talented seamstress, knitter and crafter who made beautiful quilts, dolls and afghans as well as many other crafts, especially for her grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick “Rick” and Claire St. Peter and Kirk and Cheryl St. Peter all of Cross Lake; one daughter and son-in-law Linda and Harry Evans of Nikoma Park, OK; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Camille “Ky” and Sandy Theriault of Milford, CT, and Paul and Joan Theriault of Caribou; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Laurencia and Clarence Kavanaugh of Grand Falls, NB, and Christine and Lars Olsen of Windham; eight grandchildren, James and Brent Shade, Ryan, Adam, and Kellie St. Peter, Michelle Hersey, Jessica Rossignol and Amy Holland; twelve great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. St. Peter was predeceased by her loving husband, Paul St. Peter in 2010, her daughter Lisa in 1971, an infant brother, four sisters, Zelane Salley, Remi Anne Desjardins, Jeannette “Jean” Pelletier and Priscilla “Darl” Juliano, three brothers, Bertin “Bert” Theriault, Louis “Lou” Theriault and Maurice “Moe” Theriault. Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, 6-8pm, Tuesday, April 21, 2015. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Old Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation or the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund. Envelopes are available through the funeral home. Following the service all are invited to the parish center for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments. The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation for the wonderful care Yvonnette has received for the past 5 years in the special care (Alzheimer’s) unit at the Caribou Nursing Home and from her physician, Dr. Carl Flynn.
