CARIBOU - Verna May (Butler) Bell, 91, died peacefully June 22, 2020 at a Mars Hill Nursing Home. Verna was the oldest daughter of 14, born December 28, 1928 to William and Icey Ellen (Farley) Butler in Millinocket. She married Alexander Burton Bell of Limestone, February 27, 1948, and they made Caribou their home, raising 4 children. Verna attended Limestone schools. She worked at Bird’s Eye Foods for 20 years until 1971, when she and her husband opened Bell’s Pet Shop on Water St. in Caribou. Verna worked the family business until they retired and sold the pet shop in 1988. In addition to her parents and husband, Verna was predeceased by her 6 brothers and 7 sisters. She is survived by her children; James (Kristi) Bell of Caribou, Stephen (Rena) Bell of Presque Isle, Donna (Doug) Driscoll of Pittston, and Deborah (Robert) Montgomery of Lawton, Oklahoma. Nine grandchildren; Jeremy (Christina) Bell of Washington and Jamie (Jessica) Bell of Caribou; Kati (Tony) Roy of Presque Isle and Matthew Bell of Mapleton; Peggy-Sue Rooney and Angela (Jeremy) Moreland of Pittston, and Sam Driscoll of Colorado; Stacy (David) Pantoja and Jessica (Scooter) Mitchell all of Oklahoma. 16 great-grandchildren and two brothers-in-law, J. Nelson (Dorothy) Bell of Halifax, NS and Gary (Norma) Bell of Corinth. Many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Caribou, Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 1 pm with Rev.
