CARIBOU – Theresa Skonieczny, 90, wife of the late Michael Skonieczny, passed away May 23, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Calverton, NY, November 8, 1929 the daughter of the late Nikodem and Amelia (Suchocka) Hodukavich. She attended and later graduated from Bellport High School in New York. Theresa was a faithful member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Caribou and Queen of the most Holy Rosary Church in NY where she sang in the choir. She was a member and past-President of the Caribou Lioness Club and a former girl scout leader. Theresa was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and spent many hours helping on the family farm on the East Presque Isle Road in Caribou. Tending her flower garden, caring for her grandchildren and corresponding with her sponsored children were among her favorite activities. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael, in 2016 and is survived by her children, Stephen Skonieczny and wife Karen, Lorraine Wilson and husband Steve, and Janis Gallagher and husband Carl all of Caribou, Karen Perkins and husband Jeffrey of Mapleton and one sister, Stella Kiernan, of Mattituck, NY. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, Carrie Ann Winslow, Chris Wilson, Michael and Nicholas Libby, and Ryan and Kyle St. Peter; ten great-grandchildren, Malackai and Kendzie Winslow, Landen and Lillianah Wilson, Arya and Arthur Libby, Jaxyn and Hannah St. Peter, Marcus and Adaline St. Peter, many beloved nieces and nephews. Mrs. Skonieczny was predeceased by two brothers, Stanley and John, and four sisters, Mary, Hedy, Lottie and Fran. Private family services will be held at Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will be in the New Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery.
