Thelma Louise Chapman, 80, wife of the late Basil S. Chapman Jr., passed away April 6, 2013 in Holden, after a brief illness. She was born November 5, 1932 in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Basil and Elizabeth (McDougal) Hardgrove. She attended Caribou schools and was a communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Caribou. She was married to Basil S. Chapman Jr. on September 2, 1950 and had been employed at the Caribou Nursing Home. She will be remembered as a wonderful cook and mother to many. In addition to her parents, Thelma was predeceased by her husband Basil, on April 13, 1992.Two brothers, Leonard and Dale Hardgrove, and two sisters, Beatrice Nadeau and Flora Andrews, and one son-in-law, Jim Plourde. She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Trisha Chapman of Hancock, Rodney and Michelle Chapman of Orland, Mark and Trudie Chapman of Hancock, Donald and Glenda Chapman of Caribou, two daughters, Debbie Plourde and companion Jim Muth of Holden, and Lynn Chapman of Caribou, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Phil and Jeannie Hardgrove of West Halifax, VT, Dee and Esther Hardgrove of Brunswick, two sisters, Harriet Jacobs of Milford, CT, and Ella Guiggey of Georgia. Fifteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A private memorial service will be held at Mockler Funeral Home 24 Reservoir Street Caribou at a later date. Interment will be held in Evergreen Cemetery, Caribou, later in the spring.
