Thelma B. Espling, 93, passed away on February 7, 2025 at the Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle. She was born February 6, 1932 in Caribou, the daughter of James and Martha (Currie) Broome. She was a graduate of Caribou High School, and worked for many years as a bank teller at Casco Northern Bank. Thelma enjoyed cooking, hosting meals for family, knitting, snowmobiling with her husband, and trips to camp at Big Machias Lake. She is survived by her husband of nearly 75 years, Kenneth W. Espling Sr. of Caribou, and their son, Kenneth W. Espling Jr. and wife Donna of Woodland, a brother, James Broome and wife Bonnie of Bowdoinham, grandchildren, Andrea Gardner, Aaran Bennett, Betty Espling, and Shannon Espling, great-grandchildren, Joshua Zappone and wife Emma, Daniel Zappone, Summer Rivera, and Connor Bennett, many nieces and nephews. Thelma was predeceased by her parents, and by a sister, Bella Montagna. Graveside services will be held in the spring at the Woodland Cemetery at a date and time to be announced by the Mockler Funeral Home.
