CARIBOU – Philip A. Smith, 84, passed away December 25, 2018 at Caribou. He was born June 18, 1934, in Caribou, the son of Roscoe I. and Sarah E. (Borden) Smith. Phil was a graduate of Caribou High School, and was a lifelong member of the Caribou United Baptist Church. On August 5, 1961 Phil married Barbara Houston. Phil and his brother, Bob (Robert), farmed together on the Sweden Road – a partnership they both enjoyed. After farming he worked and retired from MPG as a delivery driver. Phil loved the outdoors and  family camping trips having a special fondness for Mount Katahdin. In addition to  his wife of over 57 years, Barbara of Caribou, he is survived by four children, Scott and wife Lisa of Caribou. Teresa Hayes and husband Walter of Silverthorn, CO. John and wife Shaolan of Randolph and Travis and wife Laura of Hermon. 9 grandchildren, Philip and David Smith, Chelsea and Veronica Hayes, Danial and Janelle Smith, Hongtao Wu, and Christopher and Jenna Smith, 6 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Zachary, Jessica, Jack, Olivia, and Jade, several nieces and nephews, including Bob’s daughter, who was like another daughter to Phil, Marjorie Bither and husband Patrick and their family. Phil was predeceased by his parents, a brother, Robert Smith and his wife Shirley and their son Rob. Funeral services will be held 1 pm January 5, 2019 at the Caribou United Baptist Church, with Pastor Troy Heald officiating.
