Shirley A. Searles

Shirley (Doak) Searles, 79 of Presque Isle and Caribou passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully at her home with her granddaughters, Lisa and Lindsey with her on October 11, 2024. She was born in Caribou, December 28, 1944 the daughter of Edward and Irene (Gagnon) Doak. Shirley was a graduate of Caribou High School, and married Gordon Searles on August 10, 1962. They lived together in Caribou for many years before relocating to Brunswick in 1994. Shirley worked at various processing plants until 1988 when she proudly earned her nursing degree from NMCC in 1989. She worked in several care facilities in Caribou and then Brunswick.

She is survived by children, Laura Searles Roope of Presque Isle, Mark Searles and wife, Karen, of Concord, NH., and Daniel Searles and wife, Jennifer, of Bethany, CT.; She also leaves her beloved grandchildren, Lisa (Jordan) Carmichael, Lindsey (John) Cummings of Presque Isle, Ben Searles of Concord, NH and Jacob, Julianna and Jaxson Searles of Bethany, CT; adored great grandchildren twins- Jensen and Lainee Carmichael of Presque Isle; Baylyn, Raeley and William Cummings of Presque Isle. She is also survived by her sisters Carole Belanger of Stockholm and Paula (Rich) Shuckerow of Georgia; as well as many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her long-time friend Marie Wilcox of Caribou. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon Searles, her infant daughter, Lisa Searles; and son-in-law, David Roope.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, from 1PM until time of services which will be held at 2PM from the chapel of the funeral home. Private family interment will be held in the Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.
