March 27, 1948 — June 25, 2014

Caribou Shirley Ann (Gagnon) Labobe, 66, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. Shirley was born in Caribou on March 27, 1948, daughter of the late Dennis and Odianna (Caron) Gagnon. Shirley married Benjamin Labobe in February 1966. They recently celebrated 48 years together. She was a loving wife who, with her husband, spent time enjoying motorcycles to snowmobiles, long rides to no place and time spent with family. Together they had a daughter Beth (Buffy) and a son Benjamin Jr. (Benjie) Shirley received her RN from NMVTI while she worked and raised a family. She went on to study hospital administration at St. Joseph’s College. For many years, Shirley worked as a well-respected nurse at both Cary Medical Center and TAMC. She was a tireless worker, loved by hospital staff as well as her patients. Shirley is survived by her husband, Benjamin Labobe Sr. of Caribou; Beth (Labobe) Diamond of Caribou; Benjamin Labobe Jr. of Presque Isle; 4 grandchildren: Whytnie Martin-Sackett of Caribou; Benjamin Labobe III and wife Stephanie Labobe of Sierra Vista, Arizona; Nikolas Martin-Sackett of Caribou; and Andrew Labobe of Mars Hill; and four great grandchildren; Archer, Alyssa, Jaxson, and Lily as well as Audrey who is due August 23, 2014. Two sisters, Pearl (Gagnon) Davis of Oklahoma and Rena (Gagnon) Hutchins and husband Charles of New Hampshire. She was predeceased by her parents Dennis and Odianna (Caron) Gagnon; four brothers: Gilman Gagnon, Dennis Gagnon Jr, Harold Gagnon, and Gary Gagnon; and two sisters Lorraine (Gagnon) Huston and Joyce Gagnon. Calling hours for close family will be Saturday, June 28, 2014 from 10-12:00, with the burial service immediately following.
