Sherry L. Sands

January 9, 1960 — April 3, 2015

Caribou-Sherry L. Sands, 55, went home to be with her Lord and Savior April 3, 2015 at Presque Isle. She was born in Fort Fairfield, January 9, 1960 the daughter of the late Richard and Dolores (Elliott) Pelkey. She married Willard Sands March 7, 1986 and was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an active member of the Bethel Pentecostal Church where she was involved in numerous church groups and activities. Sherry loved scrapbooking and crafting. She also enjoyed spending time with her family outdoors and taking long family rides in the woods. Surviving in addition to her husband, Willard of Caribou are her children: Mark Prestwood, Sandra Devine and Matthew Sands all of Caribou. Two stepsons and daughters in law Mike and Robin Sands of Buxton, Robert and Lori Sands of Hamden, and a step daughter Lori Sands of Gorham. Three sisters and two brothers in law; Rhonda and Chris Dare of Presque Isle, Marla and Darrin Betts of Bellville, Michigan, and Lori Faulkinham and her partner Terry Marsh of Rockland. Two brothers and sisters in law: Jeffrey and Holly Pelkey of Caribou and Rodney and Barb Pelkey of Fort Fairfield. Five grandchildren, Four Step grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and special friends. Mrs. Sands was predeceased by a sister Colleen Pelkey and a brother in law Roland Durette. Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home 24 Reservoir Street Caribou 7-9 pm Sunday. Funeral services will be held 12noon Monday March 6, 2015 from the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Roger Jewell, officiating. Interment will be in the Woodland Cemetery. Following the services all are invited to the Bethel Pentecostal Church for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Mrs. Sands may do so through Aroostook Cancer Care, who took such wonderful care of Sherry, 140 Academy Street Presque Isle Me. 04769.
