Sharon Ramey

July 5, 1950 — March 10, 2014

Woodland - Sharon Gail Ramey, 63, our loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away March 10, 2014 at Presque Isle with her family by her side. She was born in Caribou, July 5, 1950, the daughter of the late Arey and Mildred (Crosby) Fitzpatrick. She was a 1968 graduate of Caribou High School and received her Bachelors of Science degree in nursing from the University of Maine Portland-Gorham in 1972. Mrs. Ramey began her career as a public health RN in Oklahoma and Florida, returning to Caribou where she was employed as a public health nurse for almost 25 years with the Maine Department of Health and Human Services. She particularly enjoyed working with expectant and young mothers and infants through her work with DHHS. She was also the school nurse for Union 122 for 11 years. She married Del Ramey June 28, 1980. She was a longtime active member of the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church in Caribou. Sharon enjoyed baking and decorating cakes for many family weddings, birthdays, showers and special church functions. She loved to travel and camp with her family especially in the Maritime Provinces. Surviving in addition to her husband of over 33 years, Del, of Woodland are her two daughters, Kathleen Ramey and her fiancé Joshua Cyr of Caribou and Rebecca Rife and her husband Jason and granddaughters Kiele and Amira all of Jacksonville, FL. Two brothers and a sister in law, Bruce and Diane Fitzpatrick of Washburn and Brian Fitzpatrick of Guilford, NH. Her mother in law and father in law, Alice (Bartlett) Ramey and Bruce Ramey of Rumford. Brothers in law and sisters in law, Cheryl and Rodney Titcomb of Farmington and Glenn and Jeannette Ramey of Portland. Several nieces, nephews and close friends, including a special friend Pam Harpine. Friends may visit with the family Sunday March 16, 2014 at the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church from 1pm until time of services, which will be held at 2pm with the Rev. Dr. Thomas Bentum officiating. Following the service all are invited to a continued time of fellowship and refreshments in the church dining hall. Interment will be in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery, Caribou. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Kirtani and the nursing staff in the oncology department at TAMC for their exceptional compassion and care.
