WASHBURN – George T. Seward Jr., “Junebug”, 81, died July 2, 2022 at Presque Isle following a period of declining health. He was born in Washburn, October 30, 1940 the son of George Sr. and Lavina (Richardson) Seward. On August 2, 1958 he married Linda (McBreairty) Seward and together they shared 53 years of marriage before her death in 2012. They were born a day apart in the same maternity home in Washburn and George joked that he crawled into Linda’s crib and never left. Early in his career he worked for Grants Dairy delivering milk to many homes in the area, and developing many friendships along the way. He then became a bus driver and custodian at Washburn District High School, where he remained for 23 years. At WDHS he met many wonderful students, faculty, parents and friends. He greeted all with a friendly smile and pat on the back, while asking what he could do to help them or make them more comfortable. Both he and his wife, Linda, were fixtures at the school for many years. They were often seen at WDHS games and events, where George would jump in to help whenever he saw the need, even though he was officially “off duty”. George is survived by three children, Kelly Lunney of Wade, Dean Seward of Washburn and Kirby Seward and his significant other Kristy Kinney of Mapleton; grandchildren, Shannon Dubay and husband Shawn, Shawn Henthorn, Nathan Seward, Conor, Megan, and Morgan Seward; and great-grandchildren, Sage and Seth Dubay, Aiden, Siara and Ashlyn Henthorn, Hayden, Caitlyn, Brylee and Delaney Seward; and a special sister-in-law, Noreen McIntosh. In addition to his parents, and his wife, he was also predeceased by a son, Danny Seward. Graveside services will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 10AM at the Perham Cemetery with Rev. David Goupille officiating.
