Caribou – Samuel J. LaChance Sr., 90, died January 7, 2018 at his Caribou residence. He was born at Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada, October 8, 1927 the son of the late Paul and Adella (Saucier) LaChance. He married Rita Cyr, October 31, 1953 and she predeceased him, April 16, 2015, following 61 years of marriage. Mr. LaChance was a mechanic at Columbia Forest Products for many years retiring in 1991. He was a lifetime member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Sam loved to tinker and many will remember him for his ability to repair tube radios and televisions. He also enjoyed repairing and restoring TV and radio cabinets. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Samuel and Kathleen LaChance Jr. of Presque Isle, One sister, Ora St. Peter of Caribou and Evonne Chasse of Boston, Mass., 1 grandson Kemuel LaChance of Presque Isle, many nieces and nephews. Mr. LaChance was predeceased by fourbrothers Numa, Louis, William, and Marc and three sisters Corrine Martin, Sophia Clark, and Evonne Chasse, as well as a grandson, Tristan LaChance. Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. A Mass of ChristianBurial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2018 from the Parish of the Precious Blood, Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Following the service all are invited to a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at the Parish Center.
