It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ruby Pelletier, who left us peacefully on May 26, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on November 13, 1934, in Caribou, Maine, Ruby grew up as the eldest daughter in a large, close-knit family. Her early years were marked by the bonds she formed with her siblings and her deep connection to her mother, Edna. As a teenager, Ruby met Valdore Pelletier, who quickly became the love of her life. Together, they built a beautiful life and were blessed with three children: Jimmy, Tina, and Valdine. Their home was filled with music, laughter, and the simple joys of life. Ruby was an avid card player who loved cooking, dancing, and singing with Valdore, who played the guitar. The sounds of singing, tapping feet, and card games on the front porch are treasured memories for her grandchildren. Ruby was a woman of many talents and deep resourcefulness. She was known for making a dime last, ensuring there was never any waste. Her frugality was balanced by her generosity and warmth, always sharing what she had with those she loved. She and Valdore owned and operated Val’s Grocery Store, a cornerstone of their community, where Ruby made many friends and left a lasting impact. She shared a close bond with her brothers, sisters, and her mother Edna, maintaining strong family ties throughout her life. Ruby is now joyfully dancing the jitterbug again with Valdore and has been reunited with her granddaughter Jessica Helstrom, her mother Edna (Jandreau) Hartley, her father Thomas Hartley, and her brothers Roderick Hartley, Allyn (Dale) Hartley, Thomas Hartley, Gregory Hartley, Kenneth Hartley, and her sister Virginia (Junie) Dube. Ruby leaves behind a legacy of love through her children: Jimmy Pelletier and his wife Connie, Tina Soucie and her husband Glen, and Valdine Camire. She is also survived by one brother John Hartley, sister Frances (Feb) Bureau and husband Gil, sister Brenda Beaudet and husband Bob, as well as grandchildren: Julie Pelletier, Jenner Helstrom and his wife Brandi, Scott Pelletier and his wife Rachael, Brenwin Soucie and his girlfriend Taryn, Tara Soucie, Jalee Soucie, and her great-grandchildren: Faith, Ryan, Ian, Harlan, Skye, Khloe, and River Ruby. Her life was a beautiful melody, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Ruby's memory by playing a game of cards, singing a favorite song, or dancing with loved ones, just as she would have wanted.
