Ketmit, TX & Caribou - Roger DeForest Fosdick, age 83, passed away Monday, September 24, 2012 in Kermit, TX. He was born August 23, 1929 in Union Hill, NY to DeForest and Alice (Hilliger) Fosdick. Roger was a man of many talents and enjoyed a large array of hobbies and activities. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working and jigsaw puzzles. He was a huge sports fan and loved watching NASCAR and his favorite driver was #3 Dale Earnhardt Sr. He also enjoyed the Texas Rangers and The Boston Red Sox. His had a deep heart-felt love for music. He played the tambourine, and relaxed to the sounds of gospel music, Johnny Cash and Little Jimmy Dickens. Another pastime enjoyment was going to the Senior Citizen Center and spending time with his friends. Roger was also dedicated to his country and spent 20 years as an Air Force Police Man and retired as a Master Sargent. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his six sons: Roy Fosdick and wife Deb of Winsted, MN; Roger Fosdick II of Kermit, TX; Kevin Fosdick and wife Julie of Kermit, TX; Steve Fosdick and wife Alice of Kermit, TX; Jeff Lajoie and wife Connie of Kermit, TX and Mike Lajoie and wife Kathy of Caribou, ME; one sister: Barbara Jean of FL; Fifteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and his companion, best friend and true love for the last 7 years: Melinda “Mendy” Armstrong. He was preceded in death by his wife: Virginia; two sons: Maurice Fosdick and Richard Lajoie and his parents DeForest and Alice Fosdick. Funeral Services will be 7:00 pm Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Family Services Funeral Chapel in Kermit, TX officiated by Brother Charles Jones and Sister Syble Stone. There will be a family visitation from 6-8 pm Friday, September 28, 2012 at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, Maine. Graveside services be 1:00 pm, Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Evergreen Cemetery in Caribou, Maine officiated by Roger Jewell.
