Robert A. Norsworthy

Robert A. Norsworthy, 83, USAF SMSgt Ret., died peacefully on April 19, 2024 at the Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle. He was born in Caribou, September 29, 1940, the son of the late Jasper and Marion (Bowden) Norsworthy. Robert, “Bob” was a 1959 graduate of Caribou High School. Bob proudly served in the US Air Force for over 26 years, retiring as Senior Master Sergeant NCO Club Manager at Loring Air Force Base. He continued working for the USAF in civil service for another 11 years, finishing up his time at the former Thule Air Base in Greenland. Bob felt fortunate that his career in the Air Force provided him the opportunity to travel and visit places he had only read about in books as a boy. His favorite place on earth, however, has always been Aroostook County. “God’s Country,” as he always called it. As an avid outdoorsman, Bob spent a great deal of time exploring the woods, fishing, hunting, and navigating even the toughest thoroughfares with great skill. Bob was quite an entertaining story-teller and those who knew him undoubtedly heard accounts of his outdoor adventures, elusive hunts, the fish that got away, the risk-taking shenanigans of his youth, his proud air force accomplishments, but mostly the pride for his children and grandchildren. 

He is survived by his wife, Carol (Coffin) Norsworthy of Caribou, his children; Robert Norsworthy II of Lusby, MD, James Norsworthy of Panama City, FL, Shawn Norsworthy of Boulder, CO, and Sara Norsworthy Otis of Gorham, ME. His beloved grandchildren, Samuel Otis, Oliver Otis, and Kesalul Norsworthy. Several nieces and nephews. 

Friends may visit with the family at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St, Caribou, on Friday, May 10, 2024 from 12 noon until time of services which will be held at 2:00pm at the funeral home with Pastor Rich Rego officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery.
