Caribou and MillinocketRobert Eugene McClain, 64, passed away at home, January 21, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was born July 1, 1951, in Millinocket, the son of Eugene N. and Arlene S. (MacMillan) McClain.Puff, as he was known to his grandchildren and friends in Millinocket, graduated from Stearns High School. Denny, as his college friends knew him, earned a degree in Education from The University of Maine at Fort Kent. He was a member of the Millinocket Elks Lodge BPO 1521 and a fraternity brother of Kappa Delta Phi, Rho Chapter. He was one of the special people you meet very few of in a lifetime. Denny liked spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered for his kind gentleness, generosity, sense of humor, his special way with children and animals, love of rock and roll, and being in the great outdoors. He especially looked forward to the annual fishing trips on the Allagash. He is predeceased by his parents Eugene N. and Arlene S. McClain and brother Scott E. McClain. He is survived by his loving family, his college sweetheart, Sandra McMillan Hallowell, Katelyn and Samuel Robertson and two grandchildren Gabriel and Leighton Robertson, all of Caribou and Robert Jr. and Angel McMillan of Pittston. He will be missed by many special friends including, Jeff Neal of Millinocket, Steven Richards of Caribou, and John Chick of Cross Lake. Instead of flowers or donations, Denny would hope that you would do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for someone in his name. Those who remember Denny are asked to celebrate His life in their own way, raising a glass of their favorite drink in his memory would be quite appropriate. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
