Caribou- Raymond Todd, 73 went to meet his Lord June 23, 2012 at Presque Isle, surrounded by his family and friends, following a brief but courageous battle with ALS ( Lou Gehrig’s Disease). He was born in Caribou March 18, 1939 the son of the late Elmer and Hope (Burgess) Todd. Ray was a 1957 graduate of Caribou High School and the University of Maine, Orono, Class of 1961. He will be remembered as one who loved the Lord, his family and his fellow man. Ray was always ready to quietly help when there was a need. He was a long time member of the Caribou United Baptist Church, where he served in many areas of leadership. He was a great supporter and worker of youth activities, be it local, at Baptist Camp or worldwide. He served with the Maine Army National Guard 152nd Field Artillery Battery B from 1961-1967 and served on the Caribou School Board for several years. He was also a member of the Northern Maine Antique Tractor club and Gideon’s International. Ray was very insightful to the needs of the area agriculture community and 45 years ago formed R.L. Todd and Son Electrical, which built, built and serviced potato ventilation systems throughout the state. The business expanded when his son Tim came home from college and is now known for extensive residential, commercial, industrial, and agriculture electrical work. In 2010 they were chosen as Outstanding Business of the year by Northern Maine Community College. Ray was a man of strong work ethic and integrity. He married his college sweetheart, Nancy McIntire form Perham, June 14, 1964. They had many years of traveling across the United States dues to Nancy’s educational work. The highlight of trips was to Israel and an Alaskan cruise. Ray had a heart for short term mission trips and went to Haiti shortly after the earthquake to help build houses as well as a trip to Guatemala with Neighbors First to help build a church in the jungle. Ray is survived by his wife of over 48 years, Nancy, his daughter and son in law, Heidi and Stephen Clark, his son Timothy Todd and his two precious granddaughters, Cassandra and Katelyn Clark, all of Caribou. A sister, Shirley Davis of Auburn. Nieces, Joy and Becky Davis as well as several cousins. Mr. Todd was predeceased by a granddaughter Megan Clark. Friends may visit with the family 2-4 and 6-8 pm Friday at the funeral home. A celebration of Ray’s live will be held 2:00 pm Saturday June 30, 2012 from the Caribou United Baptist Church, with a time of coffee fellowship to follow. In lieu of flowers gifts may be made to Neighbor’s First Inc. or Gideon’s International. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Yes Papa, you truly “never had it so good”
