Caribou-Pearl E. Hale 92, wife of the late Arnold Hale died January 14, 2013 at Caribou. She was born in Caribou November 29, 1920 the daughter of the late Herman and Grace (Todd) McNeal. Mrs. Hale was a 1938 graduate of Caribou High School and was employed by the City of Caribou as Caribou’s welfare director for over 25 years. She was an active member of the Caribou United Baptist Church. Following her retirement she and her husband moved to Richfield Springs N.Y where she was an active volunteer at the New York State Historical Association. While in New York, at the age of 72, Pearl completed a five mile swim on Canadargo Lake, logged 100 miles at the Cooperstown gym, receiving the Presidential fitness award, and received a listing in the Guinness Book of World records for a relay swim at Hamilton College. In 1995 she became a resident of Port St. Lucie, Florida where she maintained her active lifestyle and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Port St. Lucie. In 2006 she returned to Caribou to live with her daughter and family and more recently she was a resident of Caribou Gardens. She is survived by her sons, David Hale of Palmer, MA and Philip Hale and his wife Linda of Herkimer, N.Y., her daughter Janice St. Peter and her husband Philip of Caribou. Three sisters; Winona Almand and Gloria Kurisko both of Florida and Pamela Leach of Oxbow. One brother Claude McNeal of Indianapolis, IN. Her grandchildren; Katherine, Clinton, Todd, Rebecca, Matthew, Jennifer, David, Chris, Keith, Kelly, Eric, Sarra, Philip Jr., Jessica and Stephen. Twenty Great grandchildren. Several cousins, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hale was predeceased by her husband of fifty years Arnold, a sister Marilyn McNeal and brothers Lloyd, Murry, G.Frasier, Ralph and Carol McNeal. Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home 24 Reservoir Street Caribou 6-8 pm Friday. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Saturday January 19, 2013 from the Caribou United Baptist Church with Troy Heald and Mary Lou Brown, officiating. Following the service all are invited to a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at the church dining hall.
