Portland and Caribou - Pauline J. Evans, 46, joined the Garden of Angels on August 23, 2011 at St.
Joseph’s Manor in Portland, ME after a courageous and lengthy battle with a brain tumor.
She was born in Fort Kent, March 25, 1965 the daughter of the late Richard R. Evans of
Portage Lake, ME and foster parents MaryRuth and Richard Nichols of Fort Fairfield, ME.
She was a graduate of Ashland Community High School, class of 1983. Pauline held an
Associates in Accounting from Northern Maine Technical College, a Bachelors in Business
Administration from Husson University and was a candidate for her Masters in Business
Administration from Husson University. Pauline was an Accounting Auditor for DFAS in Limestone at the time of her diagnosis and subsequent retirement. During her battle,
Pauline elected to participate in two clinical trials at Massachusetts General and Dana
Farber Cancer Institute in an effort to help find a cure for brain tumors.
In her spare time, she could be found scrapbooking with her best friends; Johna Rosser,
Cindy Blanchette and Mary Ellen Field. Pauline is survived by her long time boyfriend,
caregiver and love Kevin McGrath of Portland, ME, three sons; Richard, Michael and
Daniel Godin all of Caribou, ME. Two sisters; Elaina Gallagher of Epping, NH and
Anesa Curry of Dover, NH. Two brothers; Keith Holmes of Magnolia, KY and Robert Curry of
Bangor, ME. A special niece and caregiver Alisha Gallagher of Epping, NH. A special Aunt;
Della Holmes of Portage Lake, ME. Several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home 24 Reservoir Street Caribou 6-8 pm Saturday.
Private family services will be held Sunday with family friend Rev. Ronald Rosser, officiating.
