CARIBOU – Patricia F. Lajoie, 92, passed away September 24, 2019 at Caribou. She was born in Van Buren, December 9, 1926 the daughter of the late Nelson and Mildred (Piltz) Drake. Patricia was a graduate of Caribou High School and later attended the Northern Maine Technical College. On April 11, 1955 she married Leroy E. Lajoie, who predeceased her at an early age. Patricia was a longtime member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church where she was a past vice president of the Ladies of St. Anne. Patricia worked for 10 years with the New England Telephone Company as a telephone operator supervisor, and later worked for 28 years at Cary Medical Center in various roles, including: patient registration, admissions, and switchboard operator. Patricia also helped her husband manage the family potato farm. In her spare time, Patricia loved making baskets, working in her flower gardens, canning, making jams, sightseeing trips, dining with friends, and berry picking. She was also a cub scout den mother for a number of years. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Leroy “Ronnie” Lajoie and wife Phillis of Caribou, Bob Lajoie and wife Diane of Presque Isle, Steve Lajoie of Caribou, Karyl LaPlante and husband Armand of Glenburn, Karen Wylie and husband Bryan of Caribou, Linda Garrity and husband Brian of Woodland, Gary Lajoie of Caribou, and Bart Lajoie and wife Kelley of Eagle River, AK, siblings, Jerry Drake and wife Betty of Caribou, Geraldine Curran of Eagle Lake, and Brenda Ketch of Madawaska Lake, grandchildren, Jessica Lajoie, Shawn LaPlante, Robert Lajoie, Jennifer Akeley, Bernadette Brown, Jacqueline Garrity, Sarah Wylie, Brandon, and Bradley Lajoie, three great-grandchildren, Christian Mooers, Dexter Tamburello, and Lila LaPlante. Many nieces and nephews and special friends, Dolores Dash, Lillian Mattila, and Judy Theriault. Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, from 6 to 8pm, on Monday, September 30, 2019. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of the funeral home at 11am on Tuesday, October 1. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, North Caribou.
