P. Harold Albair

Caribou- P. Harold Albair, 91, well known Caribou businessman, passed away May 4, 2016 at Caribou with his loving family by his side. He was born in Caribou July 27, 1924, the son of the late Edward and Louise (Soucy) Albair. Mr. Albair attended Caribou schools and in his younger years was an avid skater. Following his graduation from the engineering school at the University of Maine at Orono he worked for the Army Corps of Engineers at Loring Air Force Base. He later opened Albair’s Hardware and Servisoft, a water treatment business in Caribou, and raised his nine children while attending to his two businesses. Harold married Elizabeth Pelletier October 1, 1946 and together they enjoyed nearly 70 years of marriage. He was a lifetime member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and for over 45 years was a member of the Caribou Lions Club. Mr. Albair was an active member of his community serving on many boards and committees over the years including the board of the SBA as well as the board for Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Harold was a lifelong resident of Caribou but also enjoyed spending winters in Boynton Beach, Florida as well as spending time with his family and friends at his Cross Lake camp. He will always be remembered as an honest and loving family man and will be truly missed by his wife, Elizabeth, his eight children, their spouses and significant others and well as his many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mr. Albair was predeceased by a daughter, Connie and two brothers, Gilman and Bernard. Friends may visit with the family 1-3pm Sunday May 8, 2016 at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:00am Monday, May 9, 2016 from the Parish of the Precious Blood, Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will be in the New Holy Rosary Cemetery. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Mr. Albair may do so through the Make a Wish Foundation, Caribou or Life Flight of Maine. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful, caring staff at Caribou Rehab and Nursing as well as Dr. Flynn for making Harold’s last days most comfortable.
