Norma Ouellette

Caribou - Norma Marie Cyr Ouellette 86, passed away on October 18, 2017 at Presque Isle. Norma was born August 16, 1931 in Caribou, Maine, the daughter of Tom and Cora (Raymond) Cyr. Norma took quite pride and was devoted to her husband Colonel Roger B. Ouellette, U.S. Army who served 20 years in Vietnam in charge of theAviation Operations. She was a loving mother to her four children and navigated 20 moves successfully as a family unit. Throughout her travels as a military wife she lived in many beautiful places throughout the United States and created long-term friendships with a large diverse group of individuals and families. Following retirement they settled in Bedford, New Hampshire. Norma was a member and leader of the Officers Wives Club, Cub Scout leader, real estate agent, as well as antiques and collectible dealer. She became known as the "Giraffe Lady" because of her extensive collection from all around the world. When stationed in Hawaii Norma learned the Hulaand performed this dance at many events, always creating a smile on everyone's face! Norma embraced each day with eager, anticipation and a positive attitude. Her motto being "Don't Worry Be Happy"! With grace, Norma was determined to dance to the last dance and bring joy and smiles to those around her. Norma's lovely presence will be missed by all her family and friends. Norma is survived by 2 daughters Anne Ouellette and Julie Ouellette Giles. She has 5 beautiful grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, and a wonderful brother John and wife Joanne (LaBrie) Cyr and sister-in-law Marilyn (Hay) Cyr of Caribou. Norma was predeceased by her husband Roger, 2 sons Steven and Alan, her brother Claude, as well as her parents Tom and Cora (Raymond) Cyr. A service will be held at Leisure Village in Presque Isle on Monday, at 1:30 p.m. October 23, 2017, with interment to follow at the Northern Maine Veterans’ Cemetery. Friends who wish to contribute in Norma’s memory may do so by making contributions to the Maine Veterans Cemetery P.O. Box 312, Caribou Maine 04736.
