CARIBOU - Nancy Lee Allen, 89, passed away on May 18, 2021 at the Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle. Nancy was born in Gardiner, February 28, 1932, the daughter of the late Ralph and Dorothy (Dansie) Allen of Caribou. A nearly lifelong resident of Caribou, Nancy was well-known for her kind soul and cheerful spirit. She was a longtime member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, and along with her family helped fund the Center for Women and Children’s Health at Cary Medical Center and the Caribou Community Wellness Center.
Nancy was known for her incredible memory of people and life events, and enjoyed social gatherings with the Garden Club, Social Club, the Women’s Guild at St. Luke’s, the Historical Society, Past Matrons and TOPS. She was also fond of reading the paper, playing bingo, and following the Red Sox.
Nancy was for many years in the care of Nancy Morneault of Connor Township. They had a close personal bond and enjoyed many activities and occasional traveling together.
Nancy is survived by her niece Dansie Allen Little and husband Roger of Gualala, CA and her nephew, Scott Allen of Austin, TX and their children Marlee Little and Zachary Allen. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Allen in 2019, formerly of Spartanburg, SC. We will forever miss her warm greetings and joyful perseverance. Graveside services will be held in the Evergreen Cemetery, Caribou, at a later date and time to be announced by the Mockler Funeral Home, Caribou. Those who wish to donate in memory of Nancy may do so through either the Presque Isle Rehab and Nursing Center, or the Aroostook House of Comfort.
