Caribou – Nancy M. Frost, passed away peacefully at the age of 71 surrounded by her family on July 26th, 2022 in Caribou, Maine after a long illness. She was the youngest daughter of Martha (Cyr) and Jerome Cote born in Caribou on April 26th, 1951. She was a graduate of Caribou High School, class of 1969.
Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Frank O. Frost II on December 16th, 2000. They married in 1968 and spent 32 wonderful years together raising their three children while running a successful Auto Repair and Sales business in Woodland, Maine. They enjoyed spending time with family, especially their five grandsons. They spent much time outdoors often camping, fishing, hunting and gardening together prior to his passing.
Nancy worked for many potato farmers for years, taking us into the fields with her and introducing us to a strong work ethic at an early age. She also worked for a local bank in the bookkeeping department prior to staying home and caring for her three children and keeping books for Frank’s business. Prior to becoming ill, she worked cleaning homes for many people in the area. She took great pride in her work and looked forward each day visiting with her many clients in their homes.
Nancy enjoyed baking, gardening and crafts, as well as caring for and loving her many cats and dogs. She enjoyed cooking big dinners and having the family all together. She loved the holidays especially Christmas and Halloween as she loved to decorate her home inside and out. She loved gift giving, especially making gifts for her grand-children such as blankets and pajamas. She was a member of the Woodland First Baptist Church where for many years she was on the floral committee as well as decorating the Church for holidays which she greatly enjoyed.
Nancy is survived by her three children and son-in-law; Frank O. Frost and his significant other Theresa Spooner of Ashland, Maine, Carmen and EJ Huck IV of Caribou, Maine and Bruce Frost of Woodland, Maine. She is survived by two sisters; Claudette Morin of Westbrook, Connecticut and Charlene Shaw of Brunswick, Maine, and a former daughter-in-law Stacy Hunter Durepo of Caribou, Maine. She is also survived by four sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law; Don and Sharon Peters of New Sweden, Maine, Nancy Rodgers of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, Cindy Norwood of Bradenton, Florida and Randy and Jodi Frost of Woodland, Maine, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to being predeceased by her parents Martha and Jerome Cote and her husband Frank O. Frost II, she was predeceased by her brothers; Lucien, Maurice, Roland, Gilman, Wallen and Ferdinand Cote; her sisters, Rita Dumond and Joan Gendreau and a special sister-in-law Susan Frost. She was also predeceased by her mother and father-in-law; Thelma B. and Frank O. Frost, Sr.
Nancy is also survived by her pride and joy, her five grandsons; Matthew, Nicholas, Noah, Mason and Camden and one precious great-grandson Rhett. She was also blessed with a grand daughter-in-law Abbi Frost. “Mem” always enjoyed having the boys over to assist with yard work of some sort or just to simply spend time with her, always having an endless supply of ice cream and fudgesicles on hand to offer them. She spent her time watching her boys play basketball, baseball and soccer throughout their school years and always enjoyed listening to their many fishing, hunting and outdoor adventure stories. Watching them grow up into the hardworking young men they are, gave her much pride and always brought much happiness to her life.
Nancy will be remembered for her witty sense of humor and her very big, generous and giving heart. She was a very caring mother, wonderful mother-in-law, a dedicated Memere and a very special sister. She was strong-willed and was going to live her life the way she wanted, independently. She will be greatly missed by anyone who knew her over the years, but especially by her children and grandchildren. The hole she leaves in our hearts will never be filled by anyone, only with the love and memories we shared with her. Nancy also had a special connection and place in her heart for animals. She loved her many cats and dogs she had over the years, and everyone else’s cats and dogs as well. She leaves behind Sonny, her very sweet Aussie of 11 years, whom she loved immensely.
On behalf of Nancy’s family, we would like to express our sincere appreciation for the physicians and nurses from Cary Medical Center’s ICU for treating Mom with such good care, especially Dr. Boma whom mom had a special connection with as he took the time to understand her wants and needs. We are also grateful for the Northern Light Home and Hospice nurse and health aid for assisting with care for our mom while she was home with family.
