Michael Umphrey

Michael James Umphrey, 43, was reunited in Heaven October 19, 2019, with his loving Dad, Paul Jasper Umphrey, and his beautiful niece, Taylor Darveau.  Michael was born January 5, 1976 in Lowell, Massachusetts. Michael is survived by his wife of 17 years, Jessica Umphrey and  four beautiful children Madisyn,  Trystin, Carter and Avery.  Michael is also survived by his loving mother Patricia J. Umphrey of New Port Richey, Florida; father Donald A. Garvin and his wife Kathleen of Surfside Beach, SC; twin brother Marc  Umphrey of New Port Richey, FL  and his son Caleb;  sister Christina Darveau and her husband Corey of Hampden, ME and their children Chelsea, Jordan, Devin and Nevaeh; sister Shelly Solomon and her husband Greg of Veazie, ME and their children Sydney and Justin. Michael graduated from Washburn HS class of '95 and then enlisted in the Armed services- US Army. As a specialist, he pursued Diesel Mechanics. After the Army, he attended the Federal Police Academy. Upon graduation, he worked at the Pentagon as a federal officer and eventually the Defense Supply Center of Virgina.  Michael loved being one with nature, especially in his favorite home state "fat of the land", Maine. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and stoking a good Bonfire. His hobbies also included playing his guitar, walking with his dog Mystic, tinkering with cars or anything with a motor. His children share laughter with remembering he had an odd satisfaction with hunting down spiders, he had a love of flashlights and replacing batteries in everything (especially his kids toys- that was a "dads job" ). Michael was a remarkably charming, caring man with a great sense of humor. He was loved and will be forever missed by all who knew the special light and love of his nature. It was his wish to not have sad funeral services. There will be a celebration of life planned for the spring.
