Caribou-Melissa Ann Rafford, 50, passed away February 14, 2016 at Caribou following a long and courageous battle with cancer. God needed a very special angel to fill a heavenly void, so he called “our very special Valentine” home to be with him. Melissa was born in Caribou June 18, 1965 the daughter of Ronald and Jenny (Everett) Rafford. She was a graduate of Caribou High School and attended the United Baptist Church. She is survived by her mother and father, one daughter Melinda (Frank) Lagasse, two grandsons; Braden and Cullen Lagasse all of Caribou. One brother Wallace Everett of Woodland, one sister Susan (Erik)Hanson of Caribou, a niece, Jennifer (James) Morrow, a great nephew Zayn Pelletier, her aunt Sue Smart, a dear friend Wayne Howe, several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. She was predeceased by a brother Ronnie Lee Rafford and grandparents Thomas and Olive Everett and Bernard and Rita Rafford. Melissa had a heart of gold and was a very caring and compassionate person. She was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need. She loved to cook and bake for her family, enjoyed music and was a big animal lover. Melissa loved to do volunteer work and when she stayed with her Aunt Sue and Uncle Ken in Pennsylvania, she enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels. She had a great sense of humor and once, for Halloween, she dressed up as a cow to entertain elderly people at the Senior Center and she would also wear that same outfit to deliver her meals on wheels. Friends may visit with the family Saturday February 20, 2016 at the Mockler Funeral Home 24 Reservoir Street Caribou from 1:00pm until time of services which will be held at 2:00pm with Pastor Troy Heald, officiating.
