Maurice L. Albert, 88, died May 16, 2013 at Caribou. He was born in Caribou February 13, 1925 the son of the late Peter and Mary (Levesque) Albert Sr. Mr Albert served with the US Army during WWII, where he received numerous medals, commendations and three bronze stars. He was a member of the Lister Knowlton Post 9389 VFW and the Henry B. Pratt Post 15 American Legion. He was employed by the Maine Department of Transportation where he was the supervisor of the Caribou and the Woodland offices for many years. Maurice was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and camp. He was always proud to point out that for more than fifty consecutive years, he went fishing in the North Maine Woods. He is survived by three sons and daughters in law; Michael and Rita Albert of Colorado, Jeffery and Brenda Albert of Florida and Ricky and Barb Albert of North Carolina. His daughter and son in law, Susan and Tom Albert of Ohio. His stepchildren, Joyce Landeen of New Sweden, Barbara Conroy of Woodland, Philip Caverhill of Caribou and Connie Chapman of Presque Isle. Three sisters; Beatrice Levasseur of Caribou, Mary Saucier of Rhode Island and Katherine Rogelio. Three brothers, Gilbert and Donald Albert both of Caribou and Hayes Albert of Rhode Island. Several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mr Albert was predeceased by his first wife, Hazel (Brewster) Albert, his second wife Madeline (Dickinson) Albert, a son Robert, a granddaughter, Julie and a stepson Wendell Caverhill. Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home 24 Reservoir Street Caribou 6-8 pm Monday. Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon Tuesday May 21, 2013 from the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Ron Rosser, officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Following the services all are invited to a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at the VFW. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Mr Albert may do so through the Maine Veterans Home, Caribou memorial fund.
