Loomis (Sonny) Linwood Willey, 91, passed away December 30, 2022 peacefully at his Presque Isle residence.  Sonny was born in Caribou, April 4, 1931 to Loomis and Doris (Wark) Willey.  He graduated from Caribou High School in 1948.  Sonny married Mary Murphy on September 15, 1950.  At the time Mary was 17 and Sonny was 19, they had a hundred dollars between them to start their marriage together which endured over 70 years through good times and bad.  In 1964, Sonny and Mary started Highway Tire, Inc. along with his partner, Harold Hornbrook.  They were dedicated to their family, the business and each other.  Sonny enjoyed the outdoors and had a lot of great memories hunting and fishing with family and friends.  He also enjoyed spending time at his hunting camp in Ashland.  He was a man of simple pleasures and was often happiest smoking his pipe, delivering tires and visiting with his friends.   Sonny and Mary enjoyed many years traveling and in their retirement years enjoyed their home in Florida.  Sonny was a longtime member of the Gray Memorial Methodist church.  He was a member of the Caribou Masonic Lodge #170 AF & AM for 62 years.  He also was a longtime member of the Caribou Lions Club.  Sonny is survived by his three children and spouses; Alan and Charlotte Willey, Tammy and Ken Albert, Scott and Cecile Willey all of Caribou.  Six grandchildren; Tiffany and Ken Vencile of Nobleboro, Krystal Willey of Durham, Ginny and Ryan Corrigan of Caribou, John and Veronica Albert of San Antonio, TX, Nicholas and Elizabeth Willey of Saco and Tyler Willey of Bloomington, MN.  Four great grandchildren, Autumn Vencile, Owen, Quinn and Lydia Corrigan.  Sonny was predeceased by his parents, Loomis and Doris Willey, his wife, Mary and brother, Philip and his wife, Vivian Willey.

The family would like to express their heart felt appreciation to the staff of Leisure Village who cared for him the last nine years.  We also want to thank the staff of Professional Home Nursing, Seniors Domestics and Hospice.  All of these agencies treated our father like he was family.  There will be no services at this time.  Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in the Spring.  Arrangements by Mockler Funeral Home.  Those wishing to donate in Sonny’s memory may do so through the Shriners Hospital for Children, c/o Anah Temple Shriners, 1404 Broadway, Bangor, ME, 04401.
