October 31, 1940 — March 6, 2012

Linda Gail Seward, 71 passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at her home in Perham after a very courageous battle with lung cancer. Linda was born at Washburn, October 31, 1940, the daughter of the late James and Doris (Dickinson) McBreairty. In 1958 Linda married George Seward. She graduated from Washburn District High School and she worked there many years as a teacher’s aide. She very much enjoyed directing the annual Senior play during her years and WDHS. She was a wonderful friend to teachers and students alike and was the person everyone turned to when they needed something done. Linda was a member of the Washburn Trailrunners Snowmobile Club where she served as Secretary and Director for the past seven years. She also was a 54 year member of the Alumni Association and for many years did a great job coordinating the Alumni Banquet. Linda was a 50 year member of the Perham Friendship Club and was treasurer for many years. She received many blessings as a lifetime member of the Perham Baptist Church. Linda is survived by her husband George of Perham; two sons Kirby of Mapleton and Dean of Washburn; her daughter Kelly Meacham and her husband Brian of Wade; two sisters Molly Stevens and her husband Patrick of Eddington and Noreen McIntosh of Washburn; one brother Marvin McBreairty and his wife Edwina of Brewer; her grandchildren Shannon Dubay and her husband Shawn of Caribou; Shawn Henthorn and his fiancée Mandy of North Caroline; Nathan Seward of Kansas; Conor, Megan and Morgan Seward of Mapleton; her great-grandchildren Sage and Seth Dubay of Caribou; Aiden, Siara and Ashlynn Henthorn of North Carolina and Hayden Seward of Kansas; many nieces and nephews. Linda was predeceased by her son Danny. Linda doted on her family. She and great-granddaughter Sage formed a special bond during regular Friday nights at granddaughter Shannon’s home. Linda was a friend and bright light to everyone she met. Her courage during adversity was an inspiration to all who knew her. She will always be a shining example to her family and friends for her generosity, her adventurous nature, fun-loving and feisty personality, and her ability to handle any and all hurdles that came her way. Linda was also very creative and proved it over the years with her paintings, woodworking projects, ceramics and photography. Her wooden replicas of houses, churches, etc. were especially cherished by anyone lucky enough to receive them. The family thanks Hospice of Aroostook and Linda’s very special nurse, Ruth Collins for the excellent care they provided. Friends may call at the Perham Baptist Church, Friday, March 9, from 12noon to 2:00pm, with a celebration of Linda’s life being held at 2:00pm with the Rev. David Goupille, pastor officiating.
