Linda June (Jalbert) Cyr, 82, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on April 17, 2025 at the Maine Veterans Home in Caribou. She was born in Caribou on June 25, 1942 the daughter of the late Narcise and Odile (Theriault) Jalbert. Linda attended the Holy Rosary school then went on to graduate from Caribou High School. On July 14, 1962 she married Dana Cyr. With Dana being enlisted in the Army, Linda's view of the world was expanded bringing her and Dana to Colorado and California. The couple finally settled in Connecticut where they raised their 3 children until returning to Caribou in 1979. Linda was employed at Mecon for many years until its closure. Most people will remember her as a bagger at Hannaford Shop and Save in Caribou. Linda loved this job. You knew she liked you if she teased you or even gave you a special name, like Bozo. When Linda wasn't hard at work; she enjoyed going to Bingo every Sunday. Nothing was going to stop her from her Bingo. She also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Bowling and pizza were also on her Wednesday afternoon schedule. She loved being surrounded by her family. Linda was a lifelong devoted member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne. Linda enjoyed saying the Rosary every Sunday morning. Linda was also a long time member of the Lister Knowlton Post 9389 Ladies Auxiliary. Linda resided at the Maine Veterans since 2021 where she battled with Dementia. The family would like to give their sincere thank you to the nurses and staff for all their care and dedication during her time there.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Dana of Caribou are her children, Jerry Cyr and wife Cathy of Windsor, Wayne Cyr and wife Jean of Coraopolis, PA., and Rhonda Cyr of Caribou. Sisters, Hilda Lewis of Connecticut, Theresa Jalbert of Florida, Erlene Kennedy of Massachusetts, and Gertrude Desmund of Virginia. A brother, Vernon Jalbert and wife Jean of Caribou. 7 beloved grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cyr was predeceased by several brothers and sisters, a daughter-in-law, Julie Cyr, one Grandson Devin, and 2 great grandchildren Oliver and Arlo. Friends may visit with the family at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou on Thursday April 24, 2025 from 6PM-8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am Friday, April 25, 2025 from the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery.
