Louis (Phil) Levasseur

CARIBOU - Louis P. “Phil” LeVasseur, 91, died peacefully December 1, 2018 in Caribou. He was born in Caribou, the son of the late Napoleon P. and Rose A. (Levesque) LeVasseur. He attended Caribou schools and entered the U.S. Navy in 1945. He was employed at the Caribou Post Office as a rural mail carrier until his retirement in 1982. He was a longtime member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Phil enjoyed flying his airplane, snow sledding, and traveling the backcountry roads and Canada. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Micheal A. “Penny” (Curry) LeVasseur, two children and their spouses, Dr. Lynne Lunsford and husband Stephen of Farmville, VA., Michael LeVasseur and wife Mary of Gray, two granddaughters, Sara LeVasseur and Tiffany Englehardt, and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Theresa Madigan of Caribou. He is predeased by two brother Claude and Francis "Jiggs" LeVasseur and three sisters Louise LeVasseur, Priscilla Williamson and Marie Shuff.  At his request there will be no calling hours or funeral services. A private family service will be held at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery.
