Larry L. Rouse

May 14, 1952 — March 16, 2023

WASHBURN - Larry Landean Rouse lost his battle with leukemia on March 16, 2023 at the Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle. He was born May 14, 1952, the 4th child of Darrell L. and Irma O. (Landeen) Rouse in Caribou.

Larry's life journey began in Washburn where he was raised. He graduated from Washburn High School in the class of 1970.

On October 20, 1972, Larry married Becky (Lint) at the family farm. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past fall. During those 50 years, Larry fine tuned his carpenter skills and Becky perfected using a paintbrush. They created homes in Washburn, Presque Isle, Mapleton, and even one in Florida. All while raising their 2 sons. There is a saying, "You can take the boy out of the County but you can't take the County out of the boy". Hence, Larry and family headed back home to Maine.

Larry touched many lives during his travels in the County. Those travels started on the family's potato farm, driving "down back". A career changed led him to delivering the mail to the local communities, a job he truly loved.

A favorite pastime of Larry's was being a "Cricker" and all it had to offer. He found pleasure in 4 wheeler rides, and having fires while enjoying a good hotdog roast at the Crick. There Larry could be found puttering and tinkering around camp. With the help of family and friends, camp became home. Larry also enjoyed golfing. He never made a career out of chasing that white ball, but did have a lot of fun trying.

Most of all, Larry loved the river's scenic views.  With his wife and family by his side, they would sit there for hours watching the river. The world or maybe an eagle would just fly by. No matter what the season, life at camp was his happy place.

Larry was predeceased by his son, Jon (2013), his parents, his oldest brother, Darrell D. Rouse (2022), a brother-in-law Ron Barone (2021), and a nephew, Garrett Potvin (2020).

Larry is survived by his wife, Becky, of Washburn, son, Kristopher Rouse, granddaughters, Kassandra and Hailey Rouse . He also leaves behind his siblings, Stephen Rouse and wife Barbara of Washburn, Malcolm Rouse and wife Susan of Rome, and Kim Barone of N. Waterboro. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Sheryl and Paul Grendell of Chapman.

He is also survived by nieces and nephews. There are many close friends, co-workers and fellow Crickers that will also mourn his loss.

Friends are invited to visit with the family at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, on Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 3PM until time of services which will be held at 4PM from the chapel of the funeral home with Pastor George McLaughlin officiating.
