CARIBOU – Kenneth J. Cyr, 58, died unexpectedly March 8, 2024 in Sinclair. He was born in Fort Kent, April 20, 1965 the son of Fernand and Rowena (Thibeault) Cyr. Kenneth was a graduate of Caribou High School, and made his career with the United States Army. He served his country honorably throughout the world including tours in Iraq, Korea and Panama. Ken was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He had a passion for cars and enjoyed four-wheeling. His biggest love was his family, he enjoyed time spent together and would do anything for them. Ken especially enjoyed time spent at the camp in Sinclair, it was his favorite place to be. Ken was predeceased by his father, Fernand Cyr in 2005, and his father-in-law, Romain LaPointe. He is survived by his mother, Rowena Cyr, his beloved wife, Rose (LaPointe) Cyr both of Caribou, a son, Derrian Near of Sherman, his siblings, Deanna Cyr of South Portland, Steven Cyr of Missouri, Trina Rocha of Colorado, and Ryan Cyr and wife Jennifer of South Portland, his step-children, Janelle O’Bar and husband Tim, and Bryant Kerna, step-grandchildren, Sutton, Avery, Beckett and Finley O’Bar, his mother-in-law, Jeannette LaPointe, a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gene and Sue Saunders, all of Caribou, as well as many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Friday, March 15, 2024 at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou from 12PM until time of services which will be held at 1PM from the chapel of the funeral home. Spring interment with military honors will be in the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery.
