WOODLAND – Keith P. Neilander, 85, passed away August 15, 2020 at Presque Isle. He was born in Caribou, November 11, 1934, the son of Edmond and Hannah (Patten) Neilander. Keith attended grade school in Woodland, and then attended Caribou High School, graduating in 1952. In 1955, he married Priscilla Brown, and together they shared over 63 years of marriage until her death in 2018. Mr. Neilander worked for the State of Maine Department of Transportation for 40 years. He was active in many groups and organizations including: A.F. and A.M. Lodge 170 (Caribou), Anah Temple Shrine (Bangor), Maine Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rites, Aroostook Shrine Club, the Anah Indy Unit, and the Maine State Employees Association. Keith was an avid outdoorsman, who was also a member of Sportsmen, Inc. Club (Stockholm).
Mr. Neilander is survived by three children, Robert Neilander and wife Elaine, of Hampden, Patti Hale and husband Terry, of Presque Isle, and Pam Langley and husband Matt of North San Juan, CA, eight grandchildren, Craig Neilander, Bobbie Jo Adams, Nicholas and Brandon Hale, Erin and Taylor Langley, Andrew Sprague and Amanda Rideout, 8 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Nancy and Fred Gill of Florida, Winnifred Brown of Caribou, his best friend, Richard Chandler. In addition to his parents, and his wife, he was predeceased by his three siblings, Doreen Thompson, Darrell and Larry Neilander.
Friends may visit with the family Friday, August 21, 2020 at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou from 5pm to 7pm. Please be mindful of others by practicing social distancing, wearing a face covering, and be aware that the number of people allowed in the building at one time is limited. Private family services will be held. Interment will be in the Woodland Cemetery.
