Woodland – L. Peter Johnson, 77, died April 6, 2022, at Caribou. He was born in Presque Isle, April 26, 1944, the son of the late Llewellyn and Florence (Hussey) Johnson. Peter was a graduate of Presque Isle High School and attended Bob Jones University. He served with the U.S. Army National Guard 152nd Field Artillery for a number of years. Peter was employed as a firefighter with the Presque Isle Fire Department, beginning his career as a substitute firefighter in 1960 and retiring as a Deputy Chief in December 1997. He loved the outdoors, especially spending time at the family camp at Squapan. Surviving in addition to his partner of many years, Marion Johnson of Woodland, are his first wife, Norma Johnson of Presque Isle, and his children, Lance Johnson of Mapleton, Scott Johnson and wife Casey of Presque Isle, Megan Takace and husband Dave of Michigan, Erica Hafford and husband Lucas of Presque Isle, Brad Johnson of Woodland and Shelby Johnson of West Virginia. His siblings Alan Johnson and wife Nancy of New York, Craig Johnson and wife Glenda of Georgia, Ben Johnson and wife Sally of Maine, Sam Johnson and wife Jeannie of Massachusetts, and Elizabeth Hoppenrath of Texas. His grandchildren, Celeste, Logan, Sherralyn, Kendall, Cadelyn, Brendan, Noah, Aidan, Brenna, Abram, Lily and Addison. his great-grandchildren, Beau, Luke, and Braylin, many nieces and nephews. Peter was predeceased by his brother Andrew and his sister Margaret Wright. The family would like to extend a special thanks and their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Swanberg, the entire Cary/Pines team and his homecare nurses, Rhonda Bell and Jennifer Bartlett for the compassionate care shown to Peter and his family over the years. Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, Sunday, April 10, 2022, from 3-5 pm. Funeral Services will be held 1 pm, Monday, from the First Baptist Church of Woodland, with Pastor Troy Heald and Rev. Ron Rosser officiating. Spring interment will be in the Fairmount Cemetery. Following the services, all are invited to a time of continued fellowship and refreshments in the church dining hall.
