Caribou-John W. Barlow, 63, husband of Cecile (Thibodeau) Barlow died June 14, 2012 at Caribou. He was born in Manchester N.H., June 23, 1948 the son of Charles and Nellie (Balkus). Mr. Barlow was a 1967 graduate of Manchester Memorial High School. He served as a supply officer with the US Air Force during Vietnam, and retired after twenty years of service. Mr. Barlow was an active member of the Paul Lockhart Post 6187 VFW in Fort Fairfield, where he served as post commander as well as the Smart Ricker Chapter 10, DAV where he was a past commander. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. John loved to fish, golf, travel and sing karaoke. He loved to spend time with his family, had a great sense of humor, and will be fondly remembered as a big tease. Surviving in addition to his wife of Caribou and his mother of Manchester N.H are his son, Johnny Plourde of Old Fort N.C. Two daughters and sons in law, Lisa and Darren Woods of Caribou and Sherrie and Robert LeBlanc II of Woodland. Two sisters and brother in law, Jane and Brian Akerman of Gulfstown, N.H. and Julie Barlow of Manchester, N.H. Seven grandchildren, Amanda, Kaitlin, and Siera Kimball, Kenneth J. Kimball, Dustin Woods and Daniel and Callee McBreairty. Two great grandchildren, Brady Jandreau and Issac McBreairty.Many nices and nephews. Graveside services and military honors will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday June 19, 2012 at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery Caribou with Fr. Aaron Damboise, officiating. Following the service all are invited to a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at the Paul Lockhart Post VFW, Fort Fairfield.
