John Ala Jr.

CARIBOU – John F. Ala Jr., 70, passed away October 10, 2016 at his Caribou residence. He was born in Kearney, NJ on February 15, 1946 the son of John F. and Edna (Sandford) Ala Sr. He graduated from high school in East Brunswick, NJ and joined the U.S. Air Force at the age of 17. John served with the Air Force from 1964 to 1968 as an aircraft electronic technician. Following his service, he was employed at Loring Air Force Base with civil engineering as a master electrician until 1994, and then he worked at DFAS Loring until his retirement in 2011. On April 19, 1969, he married Linda Mae St. Peter at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in North Caribou. John is survived by his wife of over 47 years, Linda, of Caribou, two sons and daughters-in-law, John F. Ala III and wife Emily of Fort Fairfield, and Bradley A. Ala and wife Charlotte of Presque Isle, grandchildren, Camryn and Cayden of Fort Fairfield and Zoey and Jacob of Presque Isle, a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and wife Debbie Ala of Piscataway, NJ, a sister, Joan Vogt of Whitehouse Station, NJ, brothers and sisters-in-law, Norma and Claude LaMothe of Connor, Patrick and Jean Marie St. Peter of Limestone, Richard and Eleanor St. Peter of Connor, Judy and Lyle Gengler of Caribou, Lori and Roddy Theriault of Connor, many nieces and nephews, and a special God-daughter Amy L. Ouellette of Caribou. He will also be greatly missed by his two best buddies, his dogs, Quincy and Buddy. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Aurele and Bernice St. Peter. Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, from 6 to 8pm on Wednesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1pm Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the Parish of the Precious Blood Sacred Heart Catholic Church, North Caribou. Following the service, all are invited to a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at the Sacred Heart parish hall.
