NEW SWEDEN – Jeffrey L. Chapman, 76, died April 2, 2023 at his New Sweden residence following a long illness. He was born in Washburn May 6, 1946 the son of Maurice and Flora (Myshrall) Chapman. Jeffrey was a graduate of Washburn High School and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business from Ricker College. He served three tours in Vietnam with the United States Army. He was a life member of the Smart-Ricker D.A.V. as well as the Vietnam Veterans of America. After his return from Vietnam, Mr. Chapman was employed by many area farmers, Sikorsky Aircraft in Connecticut, and was also employed for a number of years at the Loring Air Force Base Housing and Management Division. He married Cecilia St. Pierre on February 24, 1968. Together they owned and operated Lil Bit of Home Restaurant in Caribou. He is survived by his daughter, Denise Marie McDonald and husband Paul of New Sweden, one brother, Michael Chapman and wife Vicki of Plainville CT, one sister, Carolyn Hanlon and husband Terry of Mapleton, several nieces and nephews. Mr. Chapman was predeceased by his wife Cecilia in 2019, an infant brother, Frederick, and a brother Maurice “Skip” and three sisters, Manilva Fenleson, Donna Doody, and Jacqueline “Jackie” Harvey. Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Friday, May 5, 2023 from the Chapel of the Mockler Funeral Home, with Rev. Robert Smith, and Dr. A. Sidney Whiting, officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery.
