Jean Duffy

February 5, 1936 — July 4, 2022

Windham - Jean passed away on July 4, 2022 with fireworks exploding all around her home in the Basin at Sebago Lake.  She was surrounded by her loving family and dog Curly.

Jean was born on February 5, 1936 in Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada to Winston and Mona Clark.

Jean graduated from Woodstock High School and the met the love of her life Gerry Duffy.  They met at the old ball field on Connell Park in Woodstock where Gerry was playing semi pro baseball.  She was invited to a corn boil and weenie roast and fell in love.  They got married and started their lives together raising four children in Caribou, Maine.

Jean worked at Rita's Salon for many years. Her favorite perk was getting a weekly hairdo. She worked at the Aroostook Republican Newspaper where she retired.  She loved all of her co-workers and all of her many customers.  Oh the stories she could tell.  

Jean moved downstate to be closer to her family when her husband became ill.  Jean loved the lake and all the friendships she made around the fire pit with a nice glass of Chardonnay.  She also did a little traveling to London, Mexico, Aruba, Colorado and Napa Valley.  She wintered in Sarasota, Florida and lastly Marco Island, Florida.

Her love of family was her greatest accomplishment in life.  With the help of Facebook she brought her family into her life on a daily basis.

Jean was predeceased by her husband Gerry Duffy of 53 years.  Her mother and father Mona and Winston Clark. 

She is survived by her sister Mary Harlow of Burlington, Ontario. Sons, James Duffy of Sarasota, Florida and Michael Duffy of Hampden, Maine. Daughters, Cathy Duffy of Caribou, Maine, Lorry Duffy Irving and husband Mark Irving of Marco Island, Florida, a Grandson Matthew Cullins of Gorham, Maine, Granddaughters Rebecca Duffy Campbell and husband Dan Campbell of Florissant, Colorado, Heather Duffy Wingfield and husband Josh of West Cliffe Colorado, Nichole Irving Vance of Warren, Rhode Island, Lyndsay Irving and husband Anthony Perrone of Windham, Maine, Molli Cullins of Gray, Maine. Great- grandchildren, Mackenzie Stultz, Chloe Campbell, Cash Campbell, Lauren Cullins, Enzo Perrone, Veda Perrone, Kristopher Wingfield and wife Rosa, Jacob Wingfield and wife Dana, Lincoln Wingfield, Jackson Wingfield, Great Great grandchildren, Joshual Wingfield, and Hartleigh Wingfield. Several nieces, nephews and loving cousins.

There will be a celebration of life at the Caribou Motor Inn in Caribou, Maine on August 5th from 2-5pm.
