CARIBOU-James A. St. Thomas Jr. 70, Ret MSGT USAF, diedunexpectedly August 31, 2013 at his Caribou residence. He was born in Presque Isle March 4, 1943 the son of the late James and Helen (Hodgen) St. Thomas Sr. He attended the Presque Isle Schools and then joined the US Air Force. He married Sharon Hafford April 16 1963. Mr. St. Thomas served with the Air Force as a military policeman for over 22 years. He was a K-9 handler and instructor and was the kennel master for a number of years. He received numerous commendations and awards and served at numerous bases including San Antonio TX, Korea, Okinawa and Loring Air Force Base. Following his retirement from the military, he was employed as a security guard at Cary Medical Center for 22 years, served as a deputy sheriff with the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department, as well as being a sworn officer with the Fort Fairfield Police Department. Surviving in addition to his wife of over 50 years, Sharon of Caribou are his four daughters and their spouses; Laura and Darin St. Pierre and Leslie and Fred Pelletier all of Limestone, Samantha and Paul Corbin and Phyllis and Alan Guerrette all of Caribou. One brother and sister in law, John and Debbie St. Thomas of Presque Isle. Two sisters; Patricia Nellis of Massachusetts and Caroline St. Thomas. Eleven grandchildren; D.J. St. Pierre and wife Robin, Arron St. Pierre, Amber Corbin and significant other Dustin Pinette, PJ Corbin and significant other Crystal , Nathan Corbin, Scott Pelletier, Robert Pelletier, A.J. St. Thomas and wife Tynya, Dave Guerrette, Josh Guerrette, and Victoria Hopkins and husband Brandon. Five great grandchildren; Cadence, Sadie and Madison St. Pierre, Logan Pinette and Sophia St. Thomas. Several nieces and nephews. Mr. St.Thomas was predeceased by a bother Gerald. Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home 24Reservoir Street Caribou 11:00am Wednesday September 4th 2013 until time of services which will be held at 1:00pm from the funeral home with Pastor Troy Heald officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery 2:00pm Thursday September 5, 2013 .In lieu of flowers, friends who wish to contribute in memory of Mr. St. Thomas may do so to the funeral home to help with expenses.
