CARIBOU and PRESQUE ISLE - John R. “Jack” Dixon, 78, died July 16, 2023 at the Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born in Caribou, November 2, 1944 the son of Milton and Georgia (Gunnerson) Dixon. Jack was a graduate of Caribou High School, and following graduating enrolled in the United States Army. Following his military service he worked as an auto mechanic at several local dealerships, finally retiring from Percy's Auto Sales. Mr. Dixon was a life member of the American Legion Post 15 in Caribou, where he was a past officer, serving as the Sergeant-at-Arms for many years. Jack loved to make a deal on a vehicle and enjoyed working on them as well. In later years, he could be found playing cards or bingo at the legion with friends and family.
Jack is survived by his wife of 53 years, Rebecca (Kelly) Dixon of Caribou, and their children, Jonathan Dixon and wife Andrea Allen, and Felicia Nault and husband Jeffrey, all of Presque Isle, 2 granddaughters, Avery and Reagan Dixon, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, and by two siblings, Kenneth Dixon and Toby Young. Graveside services with military honors will be held Monday, July 24, 2023 at 10AM at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou.
