Harry G. Mccarthy

WOODLAND – Harry G. McCarthy, 53 passed away unexpectedly December 12, 2019 in Presque Isle. He was born March 18, 1966 in Fort Fairfield, the son of James “Gus” and Doreen (Fournier) McCarthy. Harry was a 1986 graduate of Caribou High School, and served in the US Army National Guard as a medical specialist for the 152nd Field Artillery Division in Caribou. He was an extremely hard worker, and was employed at Agway, Caribou Utilities District for many years, as well as Masse Construction and Staples Construction. Harry also owned and operated County Cleaning Services for a number of years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to canoe and camp, especially at his favorite spot on the Allagash Wilderness Waterway – Churchill Lake. He loved life, music, and nature. Harry was happiest being at his home in Woodland. There he was surrounded by the beauty of nature and he could watch animals in his own backyard. Harry was involved with the Men’s Bowling League and also was a former member of the Caribou Volunteer Fire Department. He loved animals, especially his pal, Haley, who was always at Harry’s side. Surviving in addition to his mother of Woodland, are his siblings, Mike McCarthy of Woodland, Lorie Chartier of Caribou, Ann McCarthy of Woodland, Betty Fadrigon of Milford, and Judith Slager of Bangor, his special nieces and nephews, Allyson, Chad, Adam, Daniel, Marigan, Garrison, Jodi, Gene, and Julie, several aunts, uncles and cousins, and many special friends. Harry is predeceased by his father, James Gus McCarthy and sister-in-law, Sue E. McCarthy. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 from 6 to 8pm at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am, Wednesday, from the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Harry may do so through the Parish of the Precious Blood, Sacred Heart Catholic Church Memorial Fund.
