CARIBOU – Geraldine Bouchard Smith, 84, passed away January 23, 2016 at Caribou. She was born in Caribou, May 31, 1931 the daughter of the late Levite and Clarice (Belanger) Bouchard. She was a graduate of Caribou High School, Class of 1950, and on May 26, 1954 she married Oliver Smith. Mrs. Smith was employed as the payroll supervisor at Cary Medical Center for over 35 years. After her retirement, Mrs. Smith volunteered for many years at Cary Medical Center. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church where she was also a member of the Ladies of St. Anne and the Daughters of Isabella. Geraldine was a member of the Lister-Knowlton Post 9389 VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Henry B. Pratt Post 15 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving in addition to her husband of over 61 years, Oliver, of Caribou, are her son, Stephen Smith of Rapid City, SD, one daughter, Kathryn Smith and her partner, Karen Phillips of South Portland, one grandson, Nathaniel Smith of SD, many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Smith was predeceased by her 11 brothers and sisters. Friends may visit with the family at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou from 6-8pm on Thursday, January 28, 2016. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am Friday at the Parish of the Precious Blood Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the church where Geraldine was raised and married. Following the service all are invited to a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at the VFW Hall. Interment will be in the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery.
