CARIBOU and CROSS LAKE – Georgine Catherine Richards, 88, began her journey to reunite with her beloved husband on August 26, 2020 at Caribou. She was born in Fort Fairfield, April 23, 1932, the daughter of the late Wilfred and Loretta (Allison) Cassidy. She was a graduate of Catherine McAuley High School in Portland, and then attended The Wilfred Beauty Academy in Boston. She married the love of her life, Hubert Richards, on October 13, 1951 and has been waiting for the day that they would be together again since May 23, 2004 when he began his journey to Heaven. Georgine ran her own beauty shop for many years while at the same time raising a huge pack of wild boys and one sweet girl. She loved their lakeside home at Cross Lake where they lived for many years, After retiring to the lake, she really enjoyed her time working in the Library at The University of Maine at Fort Kent and the friends that she made there. Georgine was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She was a member of The Caribou Lioness Club and was proud of the wonderful cookbooks that the ladies had put together. Cooking was one of her passions. “Georgie Girl” and Hubert absolutely loved entertaining family and friends at the camp, their many trips on The Allagash River and cooking her famous “Mexican Dinner”, spaghetti or lasagna for crowds of people. She is survived by five sons, Stephen Richards and special friend, Doreen Bouchard, Timothy and wife Lorelei Locke, Christopher and Judy Richards, Daniel Richards, Dennis and Paula Richards and a son-in-law, James Saucier, all of Caribou, one brother, Colonel Eugene Cassidy, U.S. Army Ret. and wife Linda, of Sinclair, three sisters, Marion Fritz, of St. Pete Beach, FL, Ellen Corrow and husband Greg of Caribou, and Carolyn Daigle and husband Dennis of Littleton, NH, a sister-in-law, Marion Cassidy, of Fort Fairfield and Hopewell Junction, NY, three grandchildren, Jillian Adams, Matthew Richards and special friend Amy Mazucotelli, and Allison Thibeau and husband Brad, three-great grandchildren, Molly Adams, Coltin Hopkins, and Adeline Thibeau. Mrs. Richards was predeceased by a son David, a daughter, Cathie, and two brothers, James Cassidy, and Dr Donald Cassidy, DMD. Family and friends are welcome to attend a graveside service that will be held at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery on Monday August 31, 2020 at 1:00 PM. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Mrs. Richards may do so through The Dahlgren Skidgel Farm of Hope, The Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery or The Ronald McDonald House.
