Gemma C. Lajoie

CARIBOU – Gemma C. Lajoie, 84, died peacefully November 28, 2022 at the Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle with her daughter Cheryl by her side. She was born in Sainte-Anne Parish, New Brunswick, Canada, August 7, 1938 the daughter of the late Adolphe and Emelie (Doucet) Bourgoin. Gemma was a school teacher until 1955. She then owned and operated H & R Block franchises for a number of years. She married Ronald J. Lajoie July 16, 1955, and he predeceased her in 1980. She is survived by her children, Gary Lajoie and wife Amy of Lexington, SC, Kevin Lajoie and wife Susanna of Scarborough, Cheryl Andrews and husband Mark of Caribou, and Gina Pate and husband Stephen of Old Orchard Beach, her grandchildren, Matthew and John Lajoie, Elizabeth Andrews Jones and husband Ryan, Lindsey Andrews, Jessica Pate, and Sophia Lajoie, great-granddaughters, Chloe Jones, Ella Saunders, and Nora Jones, three brothers, Alyre Bourgoin, Claude and wife Norma Bourgoin, and Rodolphe and wife Cecile Bourgoin, one sister, Anita L’Amoureux, special friends Amy and J. Eisinger, several nieces and nephews. Private family services will be held at a later date.
