WOODLAND – Gary A. Malm, 70, died June 20, 2014 at his Woodland residence with his loved ones by his side. Gary was born June 24, 1943 in Woodland the son of the late George and Tilley (Erickson) Malm. Gary was a graduate of Caribou High School. He then served with the US Army during Vietnam. Following his service, Gary was a self-employed farmer and potato grower in the Woodland area for many years. He also was employed by the Civil Service on the roads and grounds crew at Loring Air Force Base for a number of years. He was a longtime member of the Gustaf Adolf Lutheran Church in New Sweden . Mr. Malm was an active member of the Perkins Plourde Post 136 American Legion in Stockholm where he served as a past Post Commander and past Adjutant. He was a past member of Caribou Lodge #170 A.F. and A.M., the Aroostook Shrine Club and the Anah Temple Shrine. Gary is survived by his loving wife of over 41 years, Rosemary of Woodland, two sons, Patrick McCormack and wife Denise of Woodland and Christopher Malm and wife Gracey of Holden , one daughter Catherine S. Gray and husband Brian of Saco. Three brothers, George Malm and wife Janice of Prospect, CT, Dale Malm of Wasilla, AK and Paul Malm of Winter Garden, FL. A sister in law Marie Malm of Leesville, SC. Six grandchildren, Emily and Erin Gray, Joshand MatthewMcCormack, and Cooper and Madison Malm. Several nieces and nephews. Mr. Malm was predeceased by his parents and one brother Ronald Malm. Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou 6-8pm Monday, June 23, 2014. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 1pm from the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Robert Smith officiating. Interment will be in the New Sweden Cemetery. Those who wish to contribute in Memory of Mr. Malm may do so through the Gustaf Adolf Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
