WOODLAND - Freeman J. Theriault, 89, died June 8, 2023 at the Presque Isle Rehab and Nursing Center after an extended illness. He was born in Washburn on December 7, 1933, the tenth child of William Theriault and Maria (Jenkins) Theriault. He was a true individual, known for his distinct laugh, his argumentative spirit, stubbornly speaking his mind whether he was at home or in public, and for the phrase "boys oh boys!" He served his country in the United States Army for eight years. Freeman walked to work every day until retirement. He worked as a carpenter for Philip Philbrook and as a farmer for Kenneth Atcheson, Merle Russell, and David Heald.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Julia (Chase) Theriault of Woodland, his five children: Arthur Theriault, Darrren Theriault and his wife Carmen of Woodland, Freeman Theriault, Jr. and his wife Donella of Perham, Judy Ann Bernard of Presque Isle, and Maria Bouchard and husband Darryl Bouchard of Woodland. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Courtney Derry of Caribou, Chelsea Theriault of Washburn, and Chris Bouchard of Woodland. He has four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his seven brothers, Leo, Romeo, Ronald, Silvio, Tommy, Victor, and William and his four sisters Betty Moyers, Mary Tilley, Sophie Morneault, and Zelma Badger. Freeman did not wish to have a service of any kind.
