Frederic A. Fletcher

July 4, 1950 — April 20, 2016

Caribou- It is with great sadness that the family of Frederic Amos Fletcher announces his passing after his 18 month battle with cancer on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the age of 65 years. The family is assured that he is in his new heavenly home with Jesus, his Lord. Fred was born on July 4, 1950 in Caribou to Amos and Leila (Quimby) Fletcher, and graduated from Caribou High School in 1968. He went on to earn an associate degree in Agriculture from the University of Maine at Orono, following his family’s legacy in the potato farming industry. He was a fraternity member of Alpha Gamma Rho. In 1997 he obtained a Commercial Driver’s License and enjoyed many adventures along the East Coast and Midwest. Fred lived life to the fullest with a smile always on his face. He knew no strangers, having an uncanny ability to reach out to make anyone a friend. He dearly loved his God, church and family, cherishing every opportunity to enjoy life together; as an enthusiastic storyteller he was always the life of the party. He noticed, appreciated and took the time to share the wonders of God’s creation – sunrises, sunsets, Northern Lights, ocean waves, feeding the birds. This infectious love he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father, Amos Hiram Fletcher, Jr., Fred is survived by his mother Leila Quimby Fletcher Robertson. He is also survived by his wife of 17 years, Karen Erickson Fletcher; his sister Carolyn Shaw and her husband Dale; his sister Patty Smith and her husband Scott; his son Eric Fletcher and his wife Heather; his daughter Laurie Shields and her husband Tim and his daughter Kate Philbrick and her husband Rob. Fred will be greatly missed by his 6 grandchildren: Emily and Rachel Fletcher; Corinne and Julie Shields; Jeffery Akerson and his newest, precious miracle Addisyn Philbrick. Family, friends, and others whose lives Fred touched are invited to a celebration of his life to be held at the Presque Isle Wesleyan Church, 387 Centerline Road Presque Isle on Saturday, July 16th at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered in Fred’s name to Samaritan’s Purse (www.samaritanspurse.org). To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Frederic A.
