Franklin C. Weatherhead

June 28, 1943 — August 12, 2024

Limestone

Franklin C. Weatherhead, 81, died peacefully August 12, 2024 in Van Buren following a period of declining health. He was born in Caribou, June 28 1943, the son of the late Verne and Ethel (Cyr) Weatherhead. Frank grew up in Limestone on the family potato farm and along with his siblings, was very active in the farm. Frank attended Limestone High School and graduated from Husson College in Bangor earning a bachelor’s degree in business. While in college, Frank served in the Maine Army National Guard.

After his marriage to Marcella “Kit” Paradis in 1965, he settled again in Limestone where they raised two daughters and he returned to farming. Frank spent many years as a potato broker but his true passion was farming. Frank loved adventure, traveling, dancing, music, fast cars and animals. And, the animals loved him. Frank was a magnet for stray cats, usually to be followed with a litter of kittens he needed to rehome. He never turned them away. Frank’s greatest joy was being a grand-father with no hesitation to make a fool of himself just to get a laugh out of his granddaughter and take her on adventures.

Frank is survived by his two daughters, Tina Wilcoxson and husband, Todd, of Cumberland, ME and Laurie Weatherhead of Caribou; his beloved granddaughter, Brooke Weatherhead, and his great-grandchildren, Kiara and Sawyer. He is also survived by his brother James and his wife Kathy of Limestone and his sister Jane Griffeth and her husband Fred of Limestone. Surviving as well are many, many nieces and nephews.

Frank was predeceased by his parents, Verne and Ethel Weatherhead; his brothers, Vernon, Dale and Scott; his former wife, Kit; his step-mother, Althea; his sister-in-law, Janita Weatherhead.

His family would like to thank the staff of Borderview in Van Buren for their kindness, compassion and care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM Monday, August 26, 2024 at the Parish of the Precious Blood St. Louis Catholic Church, Limestone. Interment will follow at the St. Louis Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements by Mockler Funeral Home.
