Florentine Berube

January 17, 1938 — July 7, 2023

CARIBOU – Florentine Berube, 85, died July 7, 2023 after a period of declining health at the Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle. She was born in Daigle, January 17, 1938 the daughter of the late Denis and Marion (Martin) Ouellette. Florentine worked at Birdseye Foods and at Potato Service for many years. She was happiest when she was spending time with her family and friends outdoors. Florentine enjoyed camping, fishing, and boating with her husband at the helm. She was usually the one who caught the biggest fish, and often reminded her three sons of her fishing skills. She was also an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9389 Ladies Auxiliary, the American Legion Post 15 Auxiliary, the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and the Ex-Prisoners of War Auxiliary. One of her favorite activities was BINGO with all her auxiliary friends. Florentine was a longtime member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Through the years Florentine had many special feline friends, they each hold a special place in her heart.

Florentine is survived by her three sons, George Berube Jr. and wife Theresa of Limestone, Frederick A. Berube and wife Treska of Waterford and Dennis L. Berube of Caribou, two siblings, Richard Ouellette and wife Myrtle of CT and Linda Hackett and husband David of MS, 6 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her husband, George E. Berube in 2012, an infant brother, and by a great-granddaughter.

Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 from 6PM to 8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 10AM at the Parish of the Precious Blood Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Following the service, all are invited to a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at the VFW Post 9389. Interment will be in the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou, on Friday, July 14, 2023 at 10AM.
